Jedes Modell enthält mindestens ein Objekt.<br />

Mehrere Objekte werden benötigt aus verschiedenen Gründen benötigt:<br />
# Jedes [[LOD]] (Level of Details) bildet mindestens ein eigenes Objekt.<br />
# Bewegliche Teile eines Modells bilden eigene Objekte.<br />
# Bei [[Animationen]] bilden die Objekte die zeitliche Veränderung eines Modells ab.<br />

Ein einfaches Beispiel für ein Modell mit mehreren Objekten ist ein Haus, dessen Tür sich öffnen lässt. Das Haus ohne die Tür ist dann ein Objekt; die Tür selbst ist ein zweites Objekt.<br />
Die Tür steht auf einer Achse, durch die die Tür bewegt werden kann.<br />
